Travels

We've travelled over 1500 kms in the last week - to Wagga and back via Yackandandah in Victoria.
Glad to be home and dealing with lots of washing !
A few pics from the class in Wagga at Simply Stitches. Great big, airy shop and happy students makes for a good two days.
I caught up with blogger friend Janelle who's just won 1st prize at Canberra Quilt Show - well done that girl! and met lots of lovely girls in the class.
Here they all are on Sunday afternoon - tired but happy I think.
Now some pics from recent classes elsewhere. This is a new take on Mariners Madness - beautiful!

Mariners Garden
Birds in Paradise with extra borders.
Something completely different - Susan's Bulldog quilt. Will that dog fabric never run out? but don't you love the giant geese.
How many quilters does it take to sew a seam? Three like this when the sections are paper-backed and 2 1/2 feet long! Work progressing on the grand piano cover.

BIG post

It's been a really busy last few days for me.
Friday was my class at Material Obsession with lots of work done  on the day.
This is Megan's first block from the Square Dance BOM being run thru the shop.
Looks great! Megan's the quality controller for my patterns - one down 9 to go!

The class was a Basic Mariners Compass and this is the work in progress.
Great colour combos.

Ann started on some string piecing and went from this....
.... to this in no time at all.

The compasses came together quickly too.

Don't you love that background.
Then it was a quick dash out to Mulgoa and our Quilt Camp for the weekend.
I was teaching two projects - on the wall behind Kelly and it was a fun weekend.

Nearly 30 of us sewing our little hearts out til all hours.
A selection of Deco Lamp blocks done over the two days

This was part of our beautiful venue - built in the early 1800's.
Much excitement when the fire alarm was activated. Not one but THREE fire engines turned up for a false alarm. We even had a wedding in the grounds Saturday afternoon - sorry no pics but the bride was beautiful.

AND a celebrity teaching a quilt group in an adjacent building. Pam with Katrina Hadjimichael, the prize-winning Sydney quilter. We gate-crashed her classroom to check out the students work - terrific stuff happening there. The girls joined us for show and tell on Saturday night.
Even the bananas were having fun!

More quilty pics tomorrow

Clever students

Bronwyn getting excited about her Jacobean Star
Jeanette bought this embroidery a while ago and is combining it with the block below.
These are big 20" blocks - beautiful.

This is cut out from fabric and appliqued onto the background.

My turn - this is on my design wall at the moment. Can't find enough time to get a good run at it!

Compass from a class at Belconnen

Bronwyn's NYB quilt actually quilted. He's done a fine job as you can see in the pic below.

Beautiful design.
Anni's Birds in Paradise quilt taking shape.

Alison finished this yesterday - You Little Beauty - just the borders to go.
I think she's happy don't you.

Hotting up for this weekend's quilt camp - can't wait!
