Cooma group

I've just had the weekend in Cooma doing 2 days with the Wednesday Piecemakers
Most of the girls were working on the NYB blkocks with great results as you can see.
Heidi from http://goneaussiequilting.blogspot.com.au/ was working with these Kaffe fabrics and solids - wow factor here.

Lots of colour in the room.....
with batiks...

autumn tones...

repro fabrics...
and even some William Morris. Just goes to show really anything works as long as there is CONTRAST!

Three rebels began my new Hatchet quilt. Not a quick project but fun all the same.
The Hatchet top

Helen AKA Hell-on-wheels bought along her finished Basket Case top and here are a couple of her blocks. Click for a closer look at the embellished ric rac!

Cooma is a lovely town and I had a great time with the group. They even invited me back next year!

Cushions

Have you got the latest issue of Homespun yet? It's the "Fresh" issue no 117
and I'm on the cover!
I have three cushion projects in the magazine using blocks from my Basket Case quilt.
Cushion 1
Foundation pieced with ric rac additions and giant ric rac around the outside of the cushion. It's white in  the first one and you can't see it very well.

Cushion 2
They make up to fit a 20" insert - add wider borders if you'd like them bigger.

Cushion 3
They were fun to make and you can raid the stash for all those "funky" prints that are so popular now.
The full quilt
This is the quilt the blocks were taken from with 15 different baskets for you to play with!
The pattern will be in my etsy shop next week.

Big day!

I've been busy lately celebrating as you can see by the cake.

Not too busy tho to send off Quilters Companion magazine and dvd packs to seven lucky blog readers.
But I can't send one to Debi, Kim and Effie who left comments because I don't have their addresses.
If any of you are reading this post please email me so I can get your prize to you.

Giveaway!

It's finally here! The DVD I did with Quilters Companion  magazine is out now.
And to celebrate and spread the joy I have ten copies of the mag and dvd to give away. Just leave a comment on this post and I'll draw the winners next week.Only open to Australian quilters because of the weight and postage.

The dvd will take you through the making of my Deco Lamp wallhanging with lots of handy hints about my way of tackling foundation piecing.

The full size foundations and instructions are in the magazine - issue 59 which has lots of other great projects as well including one from my friend Megan from Material Obsession.

This is the wallhanging or it could be the start of something bigger!
So leave me a comment and who knows what might happen!
Happy Australia Day to all Aussie quilters.

New year awaits

During 2012 I have been working on lots of different projects. Mostly class quilts for this coming year. Here's a selection....
Sunflower - reproduction scrappy flowers with lots of scraps in the sashing

Snowballs - foundation pieced at random with a fabulous big print border

The centre of this top started life as a linen table cloth with embroidery and a very large blank centre. It just called out for some applique (the vase etc) then I couldn't resist some tiny hexagons!
Zoom in to see how the hexagons echo the embroidery. Finally a vintage curtain fabric border.
This is Hatchet but I don't seem to have a finished pic. It's all pinned and ready for quilting too

Piecing, applique, curves and foundation piecing - it's all here.

Summer school project for Hobbysew next week.
And this is a sneak peak at a quilt coming out in April Homespun - scrappy again.
Can you see a theme here?
Anyway I'm ready and rearing to go for this year's classes with lots of new projects.
Hope I see you somewhere soon! Check out my CLASSES list on the sidebar.
