Me time

Because it's school holidays here I've had a bit of sewing time for myself which is always a treat.
I've finished this Atomic Star top and recently had a workshop at Quiltsmith on this and Scrappy Windmills.
Foundation pieced big star blocks - lots of pieces but that's the fun part isn't it!
Pattern is in the works.

Hand sewing has been taken up with this Star and Crown block - thanks to my FB group Hand and Paper Piecers for finding the name. It's a Laura Wheeler block from the 30s and is an opportunity to show lots of bright and low volume prints. Still a WIP.

My favourite so far is this Wedding Compass - a double wedding ring version plus compass centre.
The centre is a big 32" across.

I think it just needs another dark frame to finish it off.

It wouldn't be a post without some students' work. This is Matiah's table centre from a Muswellbrook workshop last year. She's just started high school and has done a fine job under nan's guidance.
Christine has been "making" fabric for her Strippy Sampler quilt...

and Lesley is working on a dramatic version of my NYB quilt with lots of peacocks and beautiful Asian-inspired fabrics.

Lastly there's only a week to go til set-up day for our Springwood Quilt Show.
Hope to see you there!

  2. Love them all but am quite taken with the Atomic Star block - will have to look it up in my reference books and 'do it' sometime soon. xCathy

  4. You manage to come up with so many pretty designs that I can't believe one person can do that! Your Atomic Star is great, and I like the bright colors in the Star and Crown piece. These are all beautiful things, Chris.
