SMS Giveaway Day!

For Sewmamasew's Giveaway Day I'm giving away a pattern for this truly scrappy quilt and three fat quarters to go with it. The quilt is called Supernova Leftovers and it will use up quite a bit of your stash in the making.
The quilt makes up to be 65" square and the blocks are 14" finished.

The blocks are foundation pieced (don't be scared it's easy!) and the centre circle is appliqued.

The fat quarters are three I've chosen from the Hope Chest range here which I think will go well in this quilt.
Just leave me a comment telling me your thoughts on foundation piecing. I know lots of people avoid the technique but it's my favourite and SEW easy!
I'm willing to ship overseas so go for it guys! I will be randomly choosing a winner on 7th December.
Good luck!

  4. I learnt foundation piecing from a Carol Doak book, once I got my brain into gear I loved it. Once you start foundation piecing you start looking for blocks and quilts where you can use it, it makes complicated blocks easy to make.

  5. I'm pretty new to quilting and I've never tried foundation piecing. That quilt is beautiful though so I'd love to give it a go! Thanks for the give away!

  20. Precision is wonderful but I don't find it as relaxing as just sewing 1/4 inch seams.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love the precision of foundation piecing. I also tried the method described on the November issue of the Quilter magazine by AQS and it is really great. You don't sew over the paper and can reuse the foundation as many time as you wish. Thanks for the chance to win.

  24. OH, this is a great pattern! I love foundation piecing. Do it quite often. Yes, you have to peel all the papers off, which can be a pain (excpet that it's the perfect excuse for watching a movie), but it enables you to do things you never could do with traditional piecing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I LOVE paper piecing, but I prefer the freezer paper method :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't do enough foundation piecing, but I do enjoy it. Lots of sharp points, much easier to get right than trying to use templates.

  28. Maybe having this in my ToDo pile will make me sew the border on my Mariners Compass that I started in class with you in Wagga. The foundation piecing went together really easily and my points have never looked so good. A good pair of pointy tweezers speeds up the paper removal at the points.

    Thank you

  29. Enjoying learning to paper piece...love the points
