New quilts

I've been absorbed lately with two quilts soon to be featured in Express Publications mags. Some people find it hard to make a quilt from magazine instructions - can you imagine how hard it is for the designer to write those instructions!

Usually I have already quilted the intended project so that means I have to go back and detail the construction sometimes months after making the quilt. You'd think I would have learned to write things down as I'm making something - but I'm so focused on making the piece I can't stop to take notes. Oh well that's the way it is I guess. Here's a sneak peak at what's to come.

We've done it again!

You'll never guess - our raffle quilt has taken out 1st prize in its category AGAIN at the Sydney Quilt Show at Darling Harbour. A massive prize of fabric and wadding - congrats to all the helpers who put in time and effort to make the quilt such a beautiful one and to the winner Marilyn for lending it back to us for the show.
If you're going to the Show this week check out the quilt and the other 380 odd entries - they are wonderful. And the shops are pretty good too!
I spent Tuesday helping to set up the stands and quilts and it was a great way to get in on the action early and meet some lovely guild members. It's a good way to volunteer your time to the guild. I'll be on the Fortunes and Fairies stand on Friday if you're coming to the show - call in and say hello.
A pattern is available for this quilt - just email me.

She's a winner!

After my random number generator did its magic we have a winner for my Mariners pattern. It was tasha from South Australia - congratulations. And thanks to all who left a comment - maybe next time.
This has been such fun reading more and more comments each day from all over the world. Don't forget to come back and visit - I have some good news to share from the Sydney Quilt show but more about that later! And don't forget the SEWN launch tomorrow - should be good.

Latest pattern

Check out the latest issue of Quilters Companion for instructions to make my Funky Tumblers quilt. Lots of other great projects - it really is an inspiring magazine.
Don't forget to leave a comment to be in the draw for one of my Mariners patterns to celebrate the launch of the SEWN website on 8th June.
I'll have some of my patterns and quilts on the Fortunes and Fairies stand at the Sydney Quilt Show. Call by and have a look.

Weekend class

In the pic below is Natalie who has been working on this Mariners quilt for her dad for a few lessons - in fact she has several different projects on the go, has a young family and works part-time as well - super woman!

Irene has designed her own border for Mariners Madness. What a great thing to make a quilt all your own and doesn't it look fantastic. Well done.

Hasn't the rain been wonderful - the chimney only leaks when it's really pouring! Most of the autumn leaves have fallen off our big tree and we can get to and open up the deck area to all the beautiful winter sun when it decides to reappear.
I've had hubby home for 10 days after a hand operation - we called it "practicing for retirement" and surprise we are still speaking to each other! Lots of shopping and a movie as well - we'd be broke if it went on for too long tho.
So it was nice to get out on the weekend to Sat and Sun classes at Springwood and Kings Park.
All the girls are so happy to be able to sit and sew uninterrupted for 5 hrs or so - away from all family distractions - you know what it's like.
Laurel has done a fine job on her Almost Austen quilt. She bought the fabric in the UK at Hampton Court and after seeing Jane Austen's quilt in the flesh had the seeds of her next project.
